Thirteen years ago, Loco Love began in a little studio apartment in Sydney. Our founder Emica would spend her moments experimenting with ingredients, trialling different chocolates, dreaming up new flavours and creating each individual bar, by hand. She would then drive her creations out to local stores herself for the initial lovers of this chocolate to enjoy.
There was no grand production line, no giant team - just the purest of indulgent ingredients prepared with so much love. All from a deep respect and appreciation for cacao, and an endless curiosity for natures most extraordinary ingredients. As well as a belief that chocolate, could be more than an overly sweet and depleting treat.
Thirteen years later, the beginnings of each chocolate are the same; Every new flavour begins with Emica. Hours upon hours of researching, sourcing, testing, tasting and refining. Sometimes, a recipe will come together beautifully. Other times, it takes endless attempts, trials and time to find that perfect balance. Sleepless nights, finding the balance with family and life, sourcing new ingredients from all over the world.
And still, all along the way, we have always chosen from the same loving heart. To create something truly delicious, to use the highest quality ingredients, to nourish the bodies who receive these chocolates and to never compromise on what we believe in.
Our newest creation, Black Sesame & Date with Vanilla Bean is no exception.
Created for the wholefood lovers, this flavour brings together the deep, earthy richness of toasted black sesame. With the soft, caramel like and naturally sweet properties of Organic Medjool Dates. Mixed in with the delicate warmth of Vanilla Bean, and finally - all enrobed in our Organic Criollo Dark Chocolate. Which is ethically sourced from Ashaninka farming families in Peru, where Cacao has been (and still does!) grow wild and possess the most delicate of flavours in the world.
There is a wisdom in nature that has existed long before us. In the plants, seeds, roots and fruits that have nourished generations, treasured by ancient cultures for their ability to nurture, restore and connect us to the earth.
At Loco Love, we have always been drawn to this wisdom. To ingredients that have stood the test of time, honoured for their nourishment and the traditions they carry.
Black Sesame has been treasured for thousands of years and is naturally rich in minerals and antioxidants. Medjool Dates, offering their gooey caramel-like sweetness, and nourishment without the need for refined sugar. Vanilla Bean, brings warmth and depth to every bite.
We believe from the heart that when something is made with love, you can feel it!
From Emica's little apartment to our chocolate kitchen today, so much has grown and evolved. But the heart of Loco Love remains exactly where it began.
